Description

NDIA Washington D.C. Chapter

2015 ROTC Scholarship Awards Campaign

The Washington, D.C. Chapter is kicking off our annual ROTC Scholarship fundraising campaign for 2015, and we need your, and your company's, continued financial support. The recruitment and retention of quality individuals to serve in our Armed Forces continues to be of paramount importance, especially in light of the momentous changes our Armed Services will be facing. Our Nation is blessed with patriotic young Americans that continue to join our volunteer military, and our chapter is honored to enable the best and brightest with contributions supporting their career choice. We hope that your continued support of local ROTC Cadets and Midshipmen will play a part in demonstrating to them how much we appreciate what they are preparing to do for our Nation.

Our merit-based scholarships are designated for "high potential" ROTC Cadets and Midshipmen in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Last year we were fortunate to receive generous personal and corporate contributions from our Board of Directors, as well as individual chapter members and non-chapter members. This year we have committed to award fourteen scholarships totaling $35,000. Seven individuals will be awarded $3,000 and seven individuals will be awarded $2,000.

In addition, the Chapter Board of Directors established a new, additional scholarship award in 2014 in honor of one our long-serving Board Members, Maj Gen James E. McInerney Jr., USAF (Retired). General McInerney epitomized the Warrior Scholar ethos. After his retirement from the Service, he served for many years as the National NDIA Vice President of Membership and Chapter Affairs. This award will honor one of our Nation’s true heroes – a recipient of the Air Force Cross, 3 Silver Stars, 7 Distinguished Flying Cross’ and numerous other decorations. Our Chapter Scholarship Committee will review all of the nominees from the local ROTC units that have been submitted and select one Cadet, Midshipman, or PLC Candidate to receive a special scholarship award of $5,000.

Your contributions – both personal and corporate – are fully tax-deductible by law (NDIA's tax ID is 53-0196547). Please note that the General McInerney award will be managed in a separate fund from the general scholarship awards – all contributions received will go to our general scholarship fund unless you specifically designate that they’re for the General McInerney award. You can make your check(s) payable to NDIA Washington, D.C. Chapter Scholarship Fund and mail to:
